Body Control Module (BCM): Installation
Make sure the battery is fully charged before starting the installation procedure. Do not have a battery charger connected to the vehicle charging system during the installation procedure. Make sure the battery is fully charged before starting the installation procedure. Do not have a battery charger connected to the vehicle charging system during the installation procedure.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.NOTE: Carry out the remaining steps only if installing a new BCM.
-
NOTE: You will not be able to confirm that transport mode has been deactivated until module programming has been completed.
Deactivate transport mode in the BCM. Refer to: Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation .
- Carry out the PMI procedure for the BCM.
- Turn the ignition OFF and leave it OFF until Step 8.
- For vehicles without push button start, remove the key from the ignition.
- Using the scan tool, select Tool Box/Module Programming/Programmable Parameters/Car Configuration Parameter(s).
-
NOTE: If a diagnostic scan tool is connected to the internet, it automatically obtains As-Built data. If a diagnostic scan tool is not connected to the internet, obtain the As-Built data from PTS OASIS. Download the As-Built data to the scan tool or other storage device, such as a flash drive, following the on-screen instructions.
From the Car Configuration screen select "Retrieve PTS derived AS BUILT data". Follow the on-screen instructions to install the as-built data into the BCM.
-
NOTE: Any scan tool prompts to turn the ignition on and off should be ignored during the Car Configuration Parameter process.
Do not interrupt the process until it is completed.
- Place the ignition to the RUN mode.
-
NOTE: Due to push button start key transponder internal location, proper key orientation is required for successful key programming. The transponder is located in the front of the floor console.
For vehicles with push button start, place the key transponder in the transceiver location and press the STOP/START button.
-
- Confirm that transport mode has been deactivated by verifying that transport mode is not displayed in the instrument cluster.
- Carry out the Configurable Engine Immobilizer (CEI) Lock Configuration. On the scan tool, select Body/Service Functions/CEI Lock Configuration.
- Disable Transport Mode. Refer to: Transport and Factory Mode Deactivation .
-
NOTE: If a PCM tear tag or part number was used to establish the scan tool session, it may be necessary to establish a new session using the normal process.
For vehicles without push-button start, carry out the key code erase and program procedure. Refer to: Erase All Keys and Key Programming .
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, enter the PATS functions and follow the on-screen instructions to enter PATS security access.
- Select parameter reset BCM and PCM. Follow the on-screen instructions.
-
NOTE: Security access may need to be granted again.
If equipped with push button start, select parameter reset for BCM, RFA, PCM and ABS module. Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Configure the customer preference programmable parameters. Refer to: Module Configuration - System Operation and Component Description .
- Train the tire pressure sensors. Refer to: Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Location Calibration .
- Carry out the BCM self-test, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and then repeat the self-test to confirm all DTC have been cleared.
