Pinpoint Test Purpose

To direct the diagnosis to the module and associated circuit sending the faulty or unknown information in the messages.
- AZ1: CHECK THE PSCM DTCS
- Start the vehicle.
- Make sure the engine ready indicator is illuminated for hybrid vehicles.
Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Is DTC U0403 Invalid Data Received from the TCCM present and active in the PSCM?
Yes No Go to AZ2. If the PSCM does NOT list DTC U0403 Invalid Data Received from the TCCM, DISCONTINUE this test and REFER to the DTC Chart for diagnostic direction. - Start the vehicle.
- AZ2: CHECK THE VEHICLE BATTERY AND CHARGING SYSTEM VOLTAGE
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Refer to Charging System - General Information l and carry out Pinpoint Test A: Battery Condition Test (battery state of charge).
- Does the battery pass the condition test (battery state of charge)?
Yes No Go to AZ3. INSTALL a new battery. REFER to Battery, Mounting and Cables article .
Go to AZ3. - AZ3: RECHECK THE PSCM DTCS
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Clear the PSCM DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait at least 90 seconds for the modules to completely shut off.
- Start the vehicle.
- Make sure the engine ready indicator is illuminated for hybrid vehicles.
- Operate the system.
Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Is DTC U0403 Invalid Data Received from the TCCM present and active in the PSCM?
Yes No DIAGNOSE the TCCM concern. REFER to appropriate Four Wheel Drive System or Power Transfer Unit System article . The concern is not present at this time and may have been set due to a low battery state of charge. The test is complete, no further action is required.
