Selectable Drive Modes
The Selectable Drive Modes provides varying driving experiences through a suite of sophisticated electronic vehicle systems. These systems optimize steering, handling and powertrain response. The system provides a single location to control multiple systems performance settings.
Changing the drive mode automatically changes the functionality of the following systems:
- Electronically power-assisted steering system adjusts steering effort and feel based on the mode you select.
- Electronic stability control and traction control maintains your vehicle control in adverse conditions or high performance driving.
- Electronic throttle control enhances the powertrain response to your inputs.
- Transmission controls are optimized with shift schedules tuned to each mode.
- Transfer case; automatically engages specific 4WD modes and raises or lowers torque output depending on selected mode.
- Electronic Limited Slip Differential; engages automatically during certain modes.
The Drive Mode System allows the selection of different modes for the vehicle to operate within. The associated drive mode select switch allows the driver to select the mode best suited to the terrain and driving conditions. Each mode changes a number of the vehicle parameters within the engine, transmission, traction control and drive systems. The driver can select the following modes:
- Normal
- Sport
- Eco
- Grass/Gravel/Snow
- Sand
- Tow/Haul
In addition to the drive modes above, vehicles equipped with Rotary Drive Mode Select Switch have two additional drive modes:
- Sand
- Mud/Rut
