Steering Column Tilt Motor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Lincoln Continental. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The BCMB (Column and Pedal Control Module) provides power and ground to the tilt motor, which controls the upward and downward position of the power adjustable steering column. The tilt motor is equipped with a Hall-effect type rotation sensor that sends digital signals to the BCMB (Column and Pedal Control Module). The BCMB (Column and Pedal Control Module) uses these signals to calculate the location of the steering column in relation to the full up and down positions and to make sure the tilt motor does not stall against the steering column end of travel in the up or down direction. The tilt motor is serviced separately from the steering column.
