Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Ford EcoSport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The steering wheel position must be calibrated to the straight ahead position after installation of a new steering column, a new steering column intermediate shaft, repairs to the vehicle suspension or adjustment of the vehicle steering and suspension geometry.

This test generates a RVC for a new PSCM when directed to do so from pinpoint test. A RVC is required to order a new PSCM and to document billing for payment.

  1. P1: DETERMINE WHICH DTC IS PRESENT 
    • Carry out the PSCM self-test.
    • Is DTC C1B00:62 present? 
    Yes No
    Go to  P2. Go to  P3.
  2. P2: INITIALIZE THE STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSORS 
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Slowly turn the steering wheel from lock-to-lock, no more than 1 revolution per second.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Carry out the PSCM self-test.
    • Is DTC C1B00:62 present? 
    Yes No
    Go to  P3. The customer concern has been corrected. The concern was caused by a incorrectly initialized or non-initialized steering wheel position sensors.
  3. P3: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR CALIBRATION 
    • Ignition ON, engine running.
    • Turn the steering wheel approximately 30 degrees in each direction, then return to the center position. Make sure the steering wheel is set to the straight ahead position.
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • With the vehicle stationary run the steering angle sensor calibration procedure.
      • REFER to PROGRAMABLE PARAMETERS/STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR CALIBRATION on the scan tool and follow the calibration procedure.
    • Clear the PSCM DTCs.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Wait 90 seconds for the module to exit the active state.
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Carry out the PSCM self-test.
    • Are DTCs C1B00-49, C1B00-54, C1B00-62 or C1B00-95 present? 
    Yes No
    INSTALL a new PSCM.
    REFER to appropriate Steering Column article.
    ORDER a replacement PSCM and INCLUDE the RVC on the form.
    If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.
    When complete, SELECT the "X" in the top right corner to CLOSE this procedure.
    The concern was caused by a incorrectly calibrated or non-calibrated steering wheel position sensor. The customer concern has been corrected.
