Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The RCM continuously monitors the right front impact sensor circuits for the following faults:
- Open circuit
- Short to voltage
- Short to ground
- Faulted right front impact sensor
If a fault is detected, the RCM stores DTC B1417:11, B1417:12, B1417:13 or B1417:96 in memory and sends a message to the IPC to illuminate the airbag warning indicator.
PPT AB RCM DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| B1417:11 | Passenger Frontal Restraints Sensor: Circuit Short to Ground | A fault is indicated when the RCM senses a short to ground from the right front impact sensor feed circuit. |
| B1417:81 | Passenger Frontal Restraints Sensor: Invalid Serial Data Received | A fault is indicated when the RCM senses a faulted right front impact sensor or an open circuit from the sensor feed or return circuits. |
| B1417:93 | Passenger Frontal Restraints Sensor: No Operation | A fault is indicated when the RCM senses a faulted right front impact sensor or a short to voltage from the sensor feed circuit. |
