Remote Function Actuator (RFA) Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

On vehicles with push button start, the RFA receives passive key data and keyless entry lock/unlock requests from the RF receiver via a LIN. It communicates this information to the BCM. For more information, Refer to: Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems - Vehicles With: One-Touch Open Driver Window - System Operation and Component Description .

The RFA also works with the BCM and PCM to control the PATS function. For more information, Refer to: Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) - System Operation and Component Description .

The RFA module requires key programming when replaced. Refer to: Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset .
