Transmission Control Module (TCM): Installation

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of corrosion and foreign material.NOTE: Install new O-rings.
Install new O-rings and lubricate with transmission fluid.
Material: Motorcraft® Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid / XT-11-QDC (WSS-M2C200-D2)

NOTE: Do not force the TCM onto the transmission or damage may occur.NOTE: Make sure the TCM sits flush on the transmission or damage can occur.
Install the TCM on the transmission. Apply light pressure to seat the O-rings. If the TCM does not push in place with light pressure, remove the TCM and slightly turn the TCM gears and retry installing the TCM on the transmission.
- Install the TCM bolts.
Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)
- Push down on the front of the wiring routing bracket to install the retainer.

NOTE: Make sure that the terminals or pins/sockets of the transmission control module (TCM) and the TCM electrical connector are not bent or damaged.
Position back the wiring harness, connect the TCM connectors and connect the wiring harness retainers.
- Install the wiring routing bracket bolt.
Torque: 115 lb.in (13 Nm)
- Install the ground strap bolt.
Torque: 115 lb.in (13 Nm)
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .

NOTE: New units must be configured using the Programmable Modules Installation Routine in the diagnostic tool.
Upload the module information from the diagnostic tool to the module using the Programmable Modules Installation routine. Use the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment
- Using the diagnostic tool, perform the TR Sensor Adaptive Learn and Clutch Adaptive Learn routines found in the TCM Adaptive Learning sub-menu.
