Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Lincoln MKZ and 2019 Lincoln MKZ. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

With the ignition ON, the PSCM sends messages to the ABS module over the HS-CAN2. If the ABS module does not receive these messages within a certain time frame, the ABS module sets a DTC. For information on the messages sent to the ABS module by the PSCM, refer to the Network Message Chart in Description and Operation in the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control article.

PPT AE ABS MODULE DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
U0131:00 Lost Communication With Power Steering Control Module: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when the ABS module does not receive any messages from the PSCM. This can be due to a PSCM failure, a circuit failure on the HSCAN or an excessive load on the network.
U0420:00 Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets if the ABS module receives invalid steering wheel torque information. This can be due to a PSCM failure, a circuit failure on the HS-CAN or an excessive load on the network.
U0420:41 Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module: General Checksum Failure This DTC sets if the steering wheel angle sensor checksum is invalid. This can be due to a PSCM failure, a circuit failure on the HSCAN or an excessive load on the network.
U0420:82 Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module: Alive/Sequence Counter Incorrect/Not Updated This DTC sets if the steering wheel angle sensor rolling counter message is out of range. This can be due to a PSCM failure, a circuit failure on the HSCAN or an excessive load on the network.
U0420:86 Invalid Data Received From Body Control Module: Signal Invalid This DTC sets if the information in the steering wheel angle sensor message is out of range or invalid. This can be due to a PSCM failure, a circuit failure on the HS-CAN or an excessive load on the network.
