Pinpoint Test C : TCS (Transmission Control Switch) (O/D Cancel) Circuit Out Of Self Test Range

  1. C1 RETRIEVE AND RECORD ALL DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all KOER DTCs.

    Is DTC P1780 present? 

    Yes  GO to  C2
    No  No trouble found with the TCS system. If the Tow/Haul lamp does not illuminate, REFER to: Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes .

  2. C2 CHECK THE BCM POWER CIRCUIT TO THE TOW HAUL SWITCH

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

      		 Ground

    Is the voltage 11 volts or greater? 

    Yes  GO to  C3
    No  CHECK the BCM fuse 19 (7.5)A for an open, if OK repair the open circuit. If not OK, refer to the OEM Wiring Diagrams for possible causes of the short circuit.

  3. C3 CHECK THE TOW/HAUL SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Disconnect For vehicles equipped with the 6.2L/6.8L engine, PCM C175B .

    • For gasoline engine vehicles measure.

    • Disconnect For vehicles equipped with the 6.7L engine, TCM C1750 .

    • For diesel engine vehicles measure.
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  C4
    No  REPAIR the circuit.

  4. C4 CHECK THE TOW/HAUL SWITCH

    • Measure Tow/Haul switch component side:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      Pin 1

      		 Pin 2

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms with the switch pressed, and greater than 10, 000 ohms with the switch released? 

    Yes  GO to  C5
    No  INSTALL a new selector lever, REFER to: Selector Lever .

  5. C5 CHECK THE PCM OR TCM

    • Connect Tow/Haul Switch C2399 .

    • Ignition ON.

    • For gasoline engine vehicles measure.

    • For diesel engine vehicles measure.

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts with the switch pressed, and less than 5 volts with the switch released? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new PCM/TCM. Refer to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) - 6.2L . Refer to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) - 6.8L . Refer to: Transmission Control Module (TCM) - 6R140 . PERFORM the transmission strategy download, REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download - 6R140 .
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
