Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The selectable drive mode switch is part of the FCIM. The selectable drive mode feature allows the driver to select between several driving modes. Pressing the drive mode switch sends a ground signal to the FCIM which then sends messages to various modules on the CAN. Pressing the drive mode switch multiple times cycles through the available drive modes. For additional information on selectable drive modes, refer to Description and Operation in Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control article.
The IPC displays various messages to alert the driver to system errors. There are several modules involved in the selectable drive mode system, an internal error or DTC in one or more modules causes the system to shut down and remain inoperative.
