Steering Column Lock Module: Removal

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.NOTE: Prior to the removal of the steering column lock module, it is necessary to upload the BCM configuration information to the scan tool. This information must be downloaded back into the same BCM after installation of a new steering column lock module in order to establish the correct configuration of the BCM into the new steering column lock module.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the BCM following the on-screen instructions.
- Remove the driver knee airbag. Refer to: Driver Knee Airbag .
- Remove the steering column shrouds. Refer to: Steering Column Shrouds .

- Release the retainers and detach the steering column lock module electrical connectors.
- On both sides. Cut a slot in the steering column lock module bolt. Use the General Equipment: Spherical Cutter

NOTE: The steering column lock module is secured with a break-away head bolt. Tighten the bolt until the hex head portion of the bolt breaks away.
On both sides. Remove and discard the steering column lock module retainers and remove steering column lock module. Use the General Equipment: Flat-Bladed Screwdriver
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
