Knock Sensor (KS)
The KS is a tuned accelerometer on the engine which converts engine vibration to an electrical signal. The PCM uses this signal to determine the presence of engine knock and to retard spark timing.
Typical locations for the KS:
- KS11 - bank 1, sensor 1 (near cylinder 1/2)
- KS21 - bank 2, sensor 1 (near cylinder 4/5)
