Windshield Wiper Motor
Both windshield wiper motor assemblies contain an ECU, internal Hall-effect sensors to monitor the wiper arm position and a multi-speed motor. The ECU in the driver side windshield wiper motor assembly continuously monitors the wiper/washer switch inputs from the SCCM and (if equipped) the rain sensor when the ignition is on. Based on input from the wiper/washer switch, the ECU in the driver side windshield wiper motor assembly energizes the internal driver side motor to achieve the requested wiper mode, and simultaneously transmits a message indicating speed and position of the internal driver side motor over a dedicated serial communication interface circuit to the ECU in the passenger side windshield wiper motor assembly. The ECU in the passenger side windshield motor assembly will simultaneously energize the internal passenger side motor to match the speed and relative position of the driver side motor based on the message recieved from the ECU in the driver side wiper motor assembly.
The driver side windshield wiper motor assembly contains the primary ECU for the windshield wiper system, and controls the operation of both windshield wipers.
The wiper arms are mounted directly to the wiper motors.
