Differential Fluid Level Check

Materials 

Name Specification
Motorcraft® SAE 75W-85 Premium Synthetic Hypoid Gear Lubricant XY-75W85-QL WSS-M2C942-A
Motorcraft® SAE 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant XY-80W90-QL WSP-M2C197-A

Check 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the differential fill plug.

  3. Check and top off the differential with differential gear lubricant. The differential gear lubricant level should be within 3mm (0.118 in.) from the fluid level fill plug opening.

    Material: Motorcraft® SAE 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant / XY-80W90-QL (WSP-M2C197-A)

    Material: Motorcraft® SAE 75W-85 Premium Synthetic Hypoid Gear Lubricant / XY-75W85-QL (WSS-M2C942-A)

  4. Install the front differential fill plug.

    Torque: 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)
