Particulate Matter Bank 1, Sensor 1 (PM11) Module

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2018 Ford Transit-350 HD, 2018 Ford Transit-350, 2018 Ford Transit-250, 2018 Ford Transit-150, and 2018 Ford F-550 Super Duty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The PM11 module monitors the PM11 sensor and controls the PM11 sensor heater element. The PM11 module communicates with the PCM through the controller area network (CAN) to report the presence of particulates in the exhaust gas, indicating a concern with the diesel particulate filter.

The PM11 module consists of a microprocessor, RAM, ROM, EEPROM, and heater driver. The EEPROM stores the module calibration. The heater driver supplies a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage to the heater portion of the sensor to clean and regenerate the sensor element. The microprocessor processes all of the inputs from the sensor and communicates the information to the PCM.

The PM11 module is located on the right hand frame rail downstream of the diesel particulate filter.
