Fuel Cooling - Transit: Notes

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2018 Ford Transit-350 HD, 2018 Ford Transit-350, 2018 Ford Transit-250, 2018 Ford Transit-150, and 2018 Ford F-550 Super Duty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Fuel cooling is required to maintain an acceptable fuel temperature during engine operation. The fuel system temperature is monitored by the fuel rail temperature (FRT) sensor, which is an input to the PCM. The fuel conditioning module thermostat will passively recycle returned fuel from the engine to the inlet of the high pressure fuel injection pump during low fuel temperatures, or pass it through the fuel cooler and return it to the tank for further cooling during high fuel temperatures.
