Possible Causes

  1. I1: RESET THE SASM AND RECHECK THE DTC 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all SASM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the SASM self-test.

    Is any DTC from the DTC Fault Trigger Conditions Table present and active in teh SASM? 

    Yes No
    Go to  I2. The condition causing the DTC is not preset at this time. CHECK all SASM electrical connectors for secure connections.
  2. I2: RESET THE SASM AND RECHECK THE DTC 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the SASM  Reset Routine.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the SASM  self-test.

    Is the DTC present and active in the SASM? 

    Yes No
    INSTALL a new SASM  - Clockspring assembly.
    Refer to DRIVER AIRBAG - VEHICLES WITH: ADAPTIVE STEERING
    Refer to CLOCKSPRING .
    The SASM  reset has resolved the condition causing the DTC  . The repair iscomplete.
