Power Roof Opening Panel Initialization
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
For information on Ford Color Coded Illustrations refer to OEM COLOR CODING .
WARNING:
Keep objects and body parts clear of the glass panel when carrying out the initialization procedure. During the initialization procedure, the glass panel closes with high force and cannot detect objects in its path. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE:
The roof opening panel motor must be initialized when repairs are carried out on the roof opening panel system, including: any time the roof opening panel motor has been removed, the roof opening panel glass (fixed panoramic or front sliding) has been removed or adjusted, or if the roof opening panel frame has been removed.
NOTE:
If the roof opening panel motors are removed and then reinstalled, they must be returned to the same location (driver side or passenger side) they were removed from, with the roof opening panel in the same state (opened or closed) they were in when the motors were removed, or the system will not function correctly and re-intialization may not be possible.
NOTE:
Carrying out the initialization will initialize both the roof opening panel glass motor and the shield (sunshade) motor.
NOTE:
There are two different initialization procedures; one for a power roof opening system which is fully functional but requires re-initialization after servicing, and one for a system which is non-functional and requires initialization in order to function correctly.
NOTE:
A fully functional system features One Touch Open and One Touch Close. If these features are not available, the system requires initialization.
All vehicles
- Move the sliding glass and shield both to the fully closed position.
- Open the driver side door and leave it open for the entire procedure.
- Using the PUSH TO START button or IGNITION key, cycle DEL-ACC (Delayed Accessory) as follows: from OFF to ON to OFF and then back to ON within 5 seconds.
- Within 10 seconds after completing step 3, press and then quickly release both the Glass Close and the Shield Open switches simultaneously. The initialization procedure should execute automatically with no further interaction. The shield will initialize and then remain closed while the sliding glass initializes. If the procedure is interrupted, the system will be non-functional and the procedure described below must be used instead.
- Confirm that the procedure successfully completed by verifying correct operation of the glass and shield switches.
All vehicles
- Use the PUSH TO START button or IGNITION key to switch IGNITION ON.
- Press and hold the Glass Close switch; the sliding glass will move forward against the front of the roof opening and then stop at the VENT position, followed by the shield moving forward against the front of the roof opening and remaining at FULL CLOSE.
- Release the Glass Close switch and then, within 2-3 seconds, press and hold the same switch again. The shield will initialize and then remain closed while the glass initializes. The procedure is finished when the sliding glass stops at FULL CLOSE.
- Confirm that the procedure successfully completed by verifying correct operation of the glass and shield switches.
