Pinpoint Test E: U3000:49

  1. NOTE: If it's necessary to replace the GFM2, the program (source file) needs to be obtained from the upfitter and uploaded to the new module via the upfitter graphical user interface (GUI). The program cannot be copied from the original GFM2 and is not stored in any other module or on PTS. There is no backup file. Contact the upfitter to obtain a copy of the GFM2 source file.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    REFER to: Generic Function Module 2 (GFM2) .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    GFM2 U3000:49 Control Module: Internal Electronic Failure A DTC that sets when the GFM2 detects an internal failure.

    Possible Sources 

    • GFM2

  2. E1 CONFIRM THE GFM2 (GENERIC FUNCTION MODULE 2) DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) RESETS

    • Check vehicle service history for recent service actions related to the GFM2.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Connect the diagnostic tool.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the DTCs.

    • Wait 10 seconds.

    • Using a scan tool, perform the GFM2 self-test.

    Is DTC U3000:49 still present? 

    Yes  GO to E2 
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time.
  3. E2 REPEAT THE GFM2 (GENERIC FUNCTION MODULE 2) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the DTCs.

    Is DTC U3000:49 still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new GFM2. REFER to the appropriate procedure in this service information.
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time.
