Differential Fluid Level Check

Materials 

Name Specification
Motorcraft® SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant XY-75W140-QL WSL-M2C192-A

Check 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the engine undershield.

    1. Remove the pin-type retainer.
    2. Remove the bolts and the radiator air deflector.
    3. Remove the bolts.
    4. Remove the retainers and the engine undershield.

  3. Remove the front differential fill plug.

  4. Check and top off the differential with clean differential gear lubricant. The differential gear lubricant level should be to the bottom of the filler hole.

    Material: Motorcraft® SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant / XY-75W140-QL (WSL-M2C192-A)

  5. Ensure the front differential gear lubricant is filled to the bottom of the filler plug hole.

  6. Install the front differential fill plug.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  7. Install the engine undershield

    1. Position the engine undershield and install the pin-type retainer.
    2. Install the bolts.
    3. Install the radiator air deflector and the bolts.
    4. Install the radiator air deflector retainers.
