Pinpoint Test D: P0602

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    Refer to the DTC Fault Trigger Conditions.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    PCM P0602:00 Powertrain Control Module Programming Error: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when a programming error within the vehicle identification (VID) block occurs.

    Possible Sources 

    • VID data corrupted by the scan tool during VID reprogramming
    • PCM reprogramming
    • Damaged PCM

  2. D1 CHECK FOR PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) S

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.

    • Check for any other PCM related symptoms.

    Is DTC P0602 the only DTC present? 

    Yes  Reflash the PCM. Refer to MODULE PROGRAMMING . Repeat the self test.
    No  DIAGNOSE all PCM DTCs.
