Pinpoint Test AY: SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) Communication Concern With The VDM (Vehicle Dynamics Control Module)
Refer to VEHICLE DYNAMIC SYSTEMS for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control - System Operation and Component Description .
With the ignition ON, the VDM sends messages to the GWM over the FD-CAN, the GWM relays the messages to the SASM over the HS-CAN2. If the SASM does not receive these messages within a certain time frame, the module sets Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). This can be due to a VDM failure, a circuit failure on the CAN network or an excessive load on the network.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Condition |
|---|---|---|
| SASM U0122:00 | Lost Communication With Vehicle Dynamics Control Module: No Sub Type Information | Sets if the SASM detects any of the VDM messages are missing. |
| SASM U0416:00 | Invalid Data Received From Vehicle Dynamics Control Module: No Sub Type Information | Sets if the suspension messages from the VDM contain invalid information. |
