Pinpoint Test Purpose
To verify PSCM DTC U3000:42 or U3000:49 is present and provide diagnostics if DTC U3000:42 or U3000:49 is currently present and active in the PSCM.
- BN1: VERIFY STEERING TYPE
- This pinpoint test is applicable to HPAS vehicles equipped with an electric steering actuator only. It DOES NOT apply to EPAS vehicles.
- Inspect the vehicle and determine if the steering system is EPAS or HPAS with an electric steering actuator.
- The presence of a power steering pump, hydraulic hoses or tubes indicates a HPAS system.
- Is this vehicle equipped with HPAS and an electric steering actuator?
Yes No Go to BN2. GO to PINPOINT TEST B . - BN2: CHECK THE PSCM FOR RETURNING DTCS
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Clear the PSCM DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Drive the vehicle above 20 km/h (12 mph) for at least 5 minutes. Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Is DTC U3000:42 or U3000:49 present in the PSCM?
Yes No INSTALL a new electric steering actuator. REFER to the Power Steering article. If the PSCM does not list DTC U3000, DISCONTINUE this test and REFER to the DTC Chart for direction. If other modules are reporting DTC U3000, REFER to the reporting module DTC Chart.
