Pinpoint Test P: Stability Control Sensor Initialization Fault
- Refer to Horn/Cigar Lighter
for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The ABS module monitors various inputs and compares the values to what should be expected. If the values received are out of range or not what is expected, the ABS module sets a DTC. When a new ABS module or RCM is installed, the stability control sensors in the RCM must be initialized. This is accomplished using a diagnostic scan tool to run the ABS Calibration routine.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition ABS C0062:54 Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor: Missing Calibration Sets when the ABS module detects the stability sensors in the RCM have not been calibrated or the calibration has been lost. Possible Sources
- ABS Calibration routine not carried out
- RCM concern
- EBB unit (HCU and ABS module assembly)
- P1 CHECK FOR FAILURE CONDITIONNOTE: One or more short road tests may be required to help diagnose the concern.
- This procedure will eliminate the following failure conditions:
- The longitudinal or lateral acceleration sensor is not calibrated.
Do you wish to continue?
Yes GO to P2 No Complete a full run of available diagnostics before returning the vehicle to the customer. - This procedure will eliminate the following failure conditions:
- P2 CALIBRATE THE ACCELEROMETER
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the ABS Module DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Access the ABS module and carry out the longitudinal or lateral acceleration sensor calibration.
Did the calibration procedure complete successfully?
Yes GO to P3 No GO to P5 - P3 CHECK ACCELEROMETER CALIBRATION
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the ABS Module DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all DTCs from the ABS module. NOTE: DTCs may be displayed from previous diagnostic actions.
Did the DTCs return?
Yes GO to P4 No The concern is no longer present and may have been caused by an accelerometer calibration fault. Return the vehicle to the customer. - P4 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect ABS module connector, C135. If not previously disconnected.
- Using a good light source, inspect all disconnected electrical connectors for the following:
- Corrosion - install new connector or terminal and clean the module pins
- Damaged or bent pins - install new terminals or pins
- Pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Spread terminals - install new terminals as necessary
- Reconnect the ABS module connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any service articles: T TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no services articles address this concern, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module
ORDER a replacement ABS module and INCLUDE the RVC on the form. If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. - P5 CHECK RCM (RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE) MOUNTING
- Check the mounting of the RCM.
Is the RCM properly mounted and secure?
Yes DIAGNOSE the RCM concern. REFER to: Airbag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) . No Correctly mount the RCM and repair as necessary.
