Pinpoint Test F: P1934, P193F

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    If the PCM does not receive messages from other modules within a certain time frame the PCM sets a DTC for lost communication.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    PCM P1934:00 Vehicle Speed Signal: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects there is a sudden loss of vehicle speed signal over a period of time. Vehicle speed data is received from either the TCM or the ABS module.
    PCM P193F:00 Vehicle Speed Signal Intermittent: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the VSS input signal was intermittent. This DTC sets when the PCM detects the vehicle speed signal has been interrupted several times during a drive cycle.

    Possible Sources 

    • Aftermarket accessories
    • Wheel speed sensor circuitry concern
    • Communications network concern
    • ABS module

  2. F1 PERFORM ABS CONTROL MODULE SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a ABS control module self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control
    No  GO to  F2
  3. F2 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect the ABS control module connector.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion

        • install new connector or terminals

        • clean module pins

      • damaged or bent pins

        • install new terminals/pins

      • pushed-out pins

        • install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the ABS control module connector. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
