Selectable Driving Modes
The tow-haul or sport switch located on the transmission shift lever allows the driver to select between 5 modes; normal, tow-haul, snow-wet, economy or sport. Vehicles equipped with a 3.3L engine have 3 modes; normal, tow-haul and sport. These driving modes alter throttle response, transmission shift patterns, EPAS feel and stability control intervention thresholds. Pressing the switch sends a voltage signal to the TCM (3.0L and 3.5L engines) or the PCM (2.7L, 3.3L and 5.0L engines), the module then sends a message to the GWM over the HS-CAN1, and the GWM relays this message to the ABS module over the HS-CAN2.
Some drive modes reduce traction and stability control performance and the stability-traction control warning indicator illuminates in the instrument cluster.
- EcoSelect
: offers the best possible fuel economy with trade-offs in vehicle performance and comfort.
- Normal
: delivers a balanced combination of comfort, control and handling.
- Snow-Wet
: vehicle response becomes tuned for optimum traction at lower speeds and confidence inspiring stability at higher speeds.
- Sport
: vehicle response becomes tuned for max off road performance.
- Tow-Haul
: improves transmission operation when towing a trailer or a heavy load.
