Powertrain Drivetrain Mount Neutralizing

Powertrain/Drivetrain Mount Neutralizing 

Adjustment 

All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. If equipped.Remove the fasteners and the undershield.

    1.5L and 2.0L 

  4. Loosen, but do not remove the roll restrictor fasteners. Verify that the roll restrictor is loose.

  5. NOTE: Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or sideways to remove. Failure to press straight upward on the underside of the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or engine components.

    1. Remove the engine appearance cover nut.
    2. Place your hand under the engine appearance cover at each grommet location and push straight up to release each grommet from the studs.
    3. After all of the grommets have been released from the studs, remove the appearance cover from the engine.

  6. Detach the headlight wiring harness retainer from the degas bottle coolant hose.

    • Detach the coolant hose retainer.

    • Remove the bolts and the degas bottle support bracket.

    • Detach the coolant hose retainers.

    • Release the tabs and position the degas bottle aside.

  7. Remove the bolt and position the A/C line bracket aside.

  8. Remove the battery. Refer to: Battery .
  9. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner - 1.5L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) . Refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) .

    1.5L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - I3 

    1. Release the retainer and position the heater hoses aside.
    2. Detach the wire harness retainers from the battery tray.

    All vehicles 

    1. Remove the battery tray nuts.

      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    2. Remove the bolts and the battery tray.

      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

  10. Loosen the transmission mount bolts.

    All vehicles 

    1. Install the battery tray and nuts.

      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    2. Install the bolts.

      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    1.5L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - I3 

    1. Position back the heater hose and install the retainer.
    2. Attach the wire harness retainers to the battery tray.

    All vehicles 

  12. Install the battery. Refer to: Battery .
  13. NOTE: Do not twist or strain the powertrain/drivetrain mounts or damage to the mounts may occur.

    Start the vehicle and move it forward 0.6 m (1.97 ft) - 1.2 m (3.94 ft).

  14. NOTE: Do not twist or strain the powertrain/drivetrain mounts or damage to the mounts may occur.

    Move the vehicle in reverse the same distance 0.6 m (1.97 ft) - 1.2 m (3.94 ft).

  15. Remove the battery. Refer to: Battery .

    1.5L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) - I3 

    1. Release the retainer and position the heater hoses aside.
    2. Detach the wire harness retainers from the battery tray.

    1. Remove the nuts.
    2. Remove the bolts and battery tray.

  16. Tighten the transmission mount bolts.

    Torque:Stage 1: 103 lb.ft (140 Nm)Stage 2: 120deg.

  17. Tighten the engine mount bolts.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  18. Position the degas bottle on the tabs.

    • Install the degas bottle support bracket and the bolts.

    • Attach the coolant hose retainer.

    • Tighten the bolts and studbolt.

      Torque: 81 lb.ft (110 Nm)

    • Tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  19. If equipped.Install the bracket and the nuts.

    Torque: 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)

  20. If equipped

    1. Install the screws and engine front undershield.

      Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

    2. Install the bolts.

      Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

  22. Install the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner - 1.5L EcoBoost (132kW/180PS) . Refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L EcoBoost (177kW/240PS) .
  23. Test the system for normal operation.
