All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Module: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
NOTE: If installing a new all-wheel drive module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the scan tool prior to removing the module. This information must be downloaded into the new all-wheel drive module after installation. Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the all-wheel drive module following the onscreen instructions.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Remove the bolts, grommets and the engine undershield.

  3. If equipped. Remove the retainers and the center under body shield.

  4. Remove the retainers from the floor pan under body RH shield.

  5. Remove the retainers and the floor pan under body RH shield.

  6. Remove the 4WD module from right side of the vehicle

    1. Release tap from the connector cover.
    2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from 4WD module.

  7. Remove the bolt and the AWD module.

    Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)
