Pinpoint Test Ar: Abs Module Communication Concern With IPC Or The SELECTABLE Drive Mode Feature Is Inoperative Or The Hill Descent Control Feature Is Inoperative

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

With the ignition ON, the IPC sends messages to the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM relays these messages to the ABS module over the FD-CAN. If the ABS module does not receive these messages within the allotted time frame or if the messages contain invalid data, the module sets a DTC. This can be due to a IPC failure, a circuit failure on the network or an excessive load on the network. For information on the messages sent to the ABS module by the IPC, REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control - System Operation and Component Description .

On vehicles equipped with the features, the selectable drive mode and hill descent control are both enabled using the message center and IPC. When a feature is enabled, the IPC sends a message to the GWM over the HS-CAN3. The GWM GWM relays this message to several modules including the ABS module over the FD-CAN. Once the ABS module receives this message, it adjusts the ABS and stability control operating parameters to match the selected feature.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
ABS U0155:00 Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Control Module: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when the ABS module does not receive any messages from the IPC within the allowed time.
ABS U0423:00 Invalid Data Received from Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when the ABS module receives messages from the IPC, but the messages contain invalid data.
