Pinpoint Test BV: Abs (Anti-Lock Brake System) Module Communication Concern With SCCM (Steering Column Control Module)

REFER to: MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK for schematic and connector information.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

With the ignition ON, the SCCM sends messages to the ABS module over the HS-CAN2. If the ABS module does not receive these messages within the specified time frame, the ABS module sets Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). This can be due to a SCCM failure, a circuit failure on the CAN or an excessive load on the network. For information on the messages sent to the ABS module by the SCCM, REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control - System Operation and Component Description  .

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
ABS U0212:86 Lost Communication With Steering Column Control Module: Signal Invalid If the ABS module receives the front wiper status messages from the SCCM with an invalid value for more than the allowed time, this DTC is set.
ABS U0212:87 Lost Communication With Steering Column Control Module: Missing Message If the ABS module does not receive the steering angle messages from the SCCM within a pre-determined time frame, this DTC is set.
