Pinpoint Test BV: Abs (Anti-Lock Brake System) Module Communication Concern With SCCM (Steering Column Control Module)
REFER to: MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
With the ignition ON, the SCCM sends messages to the ABS module over the HS-CAN2. If the ABS module does not receive these messages within the specified time frame, the ABS module sets Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). This can be due to a SCCM failure, a circuit failure on the CAN or an excessive load on the network. For information on the messages sent to the ABS module by the SCCM, REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control - System Operation and Component Description .
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Condition |
|---|---|---|
| ABS U0212:86 | Lost Communication With Steering Column Control Module: Signal Invalid | If the ABS module receives the front wiper status messages from the SCCM with an invalid value for more than the allowed time, this DTC is set. |
| ABS U0212:87 | Lost Communication With Steering Column Control Module: Missing Message | If the ABS module does not receive the steering angle messages from the SCCM within a pre-determined time frame, this DTC is set. |
