Component Description: Condenser
The A/C condenser is an aluminum fin-and-tube design heat exchanger. It cools compressed refrigerant gas by allowing air to pass over fins and tubes to extract heat, and condenses gas to liquid refrigerant as it is cooled.
Vehicles with standard Trailer Tow, the condenser is not part of a stand alone cooling system for the high voltage battery coolant. It is part of a single system with one compressor.
Vehicles with Max Trailer Tow, the condenser is part of a totally stand alone cooling system for the battery coolant including a split condenser design. There are 17 tubes near the top portion of the condenser allowing the refrigerant two passes through the upper condenser tubing dedicated to the high voltage battery. There are 37 tubes near the bottom portion of the condenser allowing refrigerant four passes through the lower condenser tubing dedicated for the cabin.
The max trailer tow condenser design is performing as two separate working condensers sharing the same frame.
