Pinpoint Test Purpose

To determine the root cause of the voltage fluctuations. This test verifies the PSCM fuses, PSCM wiring harness power and ground connections are working correctly. It also verifies if the PSCM is receiving the proper voltage from the battery and charging system.
- M1: CHECK FOR PREVIOUSLY SET DTCS
- Go to KNOWN CONCERNS .
Check for DTCs listed in the article: System Related CMDTCs cleared since initial read.
- Is DTC U3004:49 present and active in the PSCM?
Yes No INSTALL a new EPAS steering column.
REFER to the Steering Column article.
ORDER a replacement PSCM and INCLUDE the RVC on the form.
If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.Go to M2. - Go to KNOWN CONCERNS .
- M2: FAULT CONFIRMATION
- Ignition ON, engine OFF.
- Clear the PSCM DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 90 seconds for the module to exit the active state.
- Ignition ON, engine running.
- Operate the system.
Carry out the PSCM self-test.
- Is DTC U3004:49 present and active in the PSCM?
Yes No INSTALL a new EPAS steering column.
REFER to the Steering Column article.
ORDER a replacement PSCM and INCLUDE the RVC on the form.
If this is a Ford paid repair, INCLUDE the RVC on the warranty claim form.The conditions required to set the DTC are not present at this time.
RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
