Pinpoint Test G: ATCM (All Terrain Control Module) Control Module Internal Faults
- Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The ATCM monitors the internal circuitry and memory for errors. If a fault is detected multiple times, a DTC is set.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition ATCM U2009:9E Rotary Encoder: Stuck On The ATCM has detected a short or open circuit for the rotary encoder optical sensor. The fault is internal to the ATCM. ATCM U2002:9E Switch: Stuck On The ATCM monitors the switch input every 10 ms. If the switch contacts are closed for more than 2 minutes, the ATCM will store a DTC. Mode selection will not be possible by pressing the button. ATCM U3000:49 Control Module: Internal Electronic Failure This DTC sets if voltage levels vary across different internal circuit. Possible Causes
- Heavy objects placed on the Rotary Encoder
- Liquid contamination of the ATCM
- ATCM
- G1 CHECK FOR ATCM (ALL TERRAIN CONTROL MODULE) DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) S
- Enter the following diagnostic mode: ATCM On Demand and CMDTC self-tests.
Is ATCMDTC s U2002:9E, U2009:9E or U3000:49 present?
Yes GO to G2 No CHECK for possible heavy objects placed on the Rotary Encoder. Customer objects placed on the switch can cause this DTC to set. CLEAR the DTC and CARRY OUT the DTC On Demand self-test to VERIFY the DTC does not return. REVIEW this concern with the customer. - G2 CHECK THE ATCM (ALL TERRAIN CONTROL MODULE) POWER CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect ATCM C2071.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2071 Pin 1 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 10v?
Yes GO to G3 No REPAIR the circuit. - G3 CHECK THE ATCM (ALL TERRAIN CONTROL MODULE) GROUND CIRCUIT
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2071 Pin 1 C2071 Pin 4
Is the voltage greater than 10v?
Yes GO to G4 No REPAIR the circuit. - G4 CHECK THE ATCM (ALL TERRAIN CONTROL MODULE) FOR POSSIBLE LIQUID CONTAMINATION
- Ignition OFF.
- REMOVE the ATCM.
- INSPECT the ATCM for possible liquid contamination.
Is any liquid contamination noted?
Yes REVIEW this concern with the customer. INSTALL a new ATCM. REFER to: All Terrain Control Module (ATCM) . No CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM, or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new ATCM.
