Pinpoint Test Q: The Manual Zoom Is Inoperative - Vehicles With IPMA (Image Processing Module A)

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    REFER to: Parking Aid - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Causes 

    • Communication network concern
    • Rear parking aid camera
    • APIM concern
    • GWM concern
    • IPMA concern

  2. Q1 CARRY OUT A NETWORK TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out a network test.

    Do all modules pass the network test? 

    Yes  GO to  Q2
    No  See the Symptom Chart: Communication Network. REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network .
  3. Q2 CHECK FOR RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the IPMA self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes  REFER to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
    No  GO to  Q3
  4. Q3 CHECK FOR RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE APIM (ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the APIM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present? 

    Yes  * For DTC C1001:01, GO to Pinpoint Test H 
    * For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .
    No  GO to  Q4
  5. Q4 CHECK FOR RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the GWM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  See DTC Chart: GWM. REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network .
    No  INSTALL a new rear parking aid camera. REFER to: Rear Parking Aid Camera . If the concern is still present after camera replacement, GO to  Q5
  6. Q5 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect the IPMA connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the IPMA connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new IPMA. REFER to: Image Processing Module A (IPMA) .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
