Powertrain Control Module (PCM): Removal

  1. NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
    NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Download the module information to the diagnostic tool using the Programmable Modules Installation routine. Refer to: Module Programming .

  2. NOTE: Vehicles equipped with powertrain control module (PCM) security shield
    NOTE: Make sure tool 418-537 is centered over the security shield bolts before drilling.

    Using the special tool 418-537 and 6mm drill bit, drill out the security shield bolts.Use Suggested Tool: 418-537 Drill Bushing, Powertrain Control Module. Tool shown or a commercially available equivalent can be used.Use the General Equipment: 6 mm Drill Bit

  3. NOTE: LH shown below, RH similar.

    Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors. Release the harness retainers from the cover and position aside the harness.

  4. Remove the bracket from the PCM cover.

  5. NOTE: LH shown below, RH similar.

    Remove the nuts and the PCM and cover.

    Torque: 7.1 Nm

  6. Remove the bolts and the PCM from the cover.

    Torque: 6.2 Nm
