Starter Motor: Testing and Inspection

STARTER MOTOR

Before attempting to test the starter itself, verify that the starter feed and electrical control circuits are operating correctly. If the starter feed and control circuits are OK, correct starter motor operation can be confirmed by one of two methods: by using a Carbon Pile Battery Load Tester to perform a bench test with the starter motor removed from vehicle, or by using a Digital Battery Load Tester with a starter test function with the starter still in the vehicle.
