July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Steering Column: Removal

  1. Disconnect battery negative terminal. Disconnect transmission shift linkage from column shift tube levers. Mark position of pot joint to steering shaft. Remove pot joint bolt from steering shaft.
  2. Remove steering column bracket nuts and screws. Remove bracket. Remove steering column seal. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL  removal and installation. Disconnect wiring connectors at column harness.
  3. Disconnect start/neutral switch and back-up light switch connectors (if equipped). Disconnect transmission indicator cable (if equipped). Rotate column allowing shift lever to clear dash opening. Remove steering column assembly.
