Change Oil
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, 2003 Oldsmobile Alero, 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and 2003 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The IPC illuminates the CHANGE OIL message when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) determines that the engine oil life is less than 11 percent. The PCM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting illumination. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. See OIL LIFE SYSTEM in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - CENTURY, GRAND PRIX, IMPALA, MONTE CARLO & REGAL article or OIL LIFE SYSTEM REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - ALERO & GRAND AM article.
