Fuel Pressure Regulator: Removal

  1. The fuel pressure regulator is located on the fuel rail. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Clean any dirt from the fuel pressure regulator retaining ring. Remove the vacuum line from the pressure regulator.
  2. Remove the snap ring. See Figure. Using a shop towel to catch any spilled fuel, lift and twist the fuel pressure regulator in order to remove the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel pressure regulator housing.
  3. Remove the regulator small "O" ring. Remove the regulator filter screen. Remove the regulator large "O" ring. Remove the regulator back-up "O" ring. Cover the fuel pressure regulator housing to prevent contamination from entering the fuel system.
