Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Verify there are no DTCs set.
    • Go to next step: If not DTCs are set 
  3. Verify the adaptive cruise control follow distance changes between Far, Medium, and Near on the driver information center each time the adaptive cruise control gap switch is pressed.
    • If the follow distance does not change 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing.

    • Go to next step: If the follow distance changes 
  4. Verify the scan tool Adaptive Cruise Control Disengage History Data and Adaptive Cruise Control Inhibit History Data do not indicate any consistent or recurring causes for an adaptive cruise control disable or inhibit.
    • If a recurring cause is indicated 

      Refer to Diagnostic Aids.

    • Go to next step: If a recurring cause is not indicated 
  5. All OK. The condition is not currently present and may be intermittent. Refer to Diagnostic Aids for instruction on how to use the scan tool to help diagnose or identify causes that may cause an adaptive cruise control malfunction.
