Liftgate Power Assist Actuator Replacement: Notes
When a lift gate hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
Do NOT allow the actuator angle to pass beyond the limits of the ball socket travel during installation. When only one end of the actuator is connected and the actuator is allowed to move freely, the socket can be damaged possibly failing causing personal injury or vehicle damage.
Apply pressure only at the end of the liftgate/hood assist rod that you are removing or attaching. Do NOT apply pressure to the middle of the rod because damage or bending will result.
DO NOT exceed the limit of the liftgate power assist actuator ball socket joint's free motion during installation to prevent possibility of damage to the actuator.
