Rack Guide Preload
- Back off lock nut and rack guide set bolt. See Figure . Tighten rack guide set bolt until it is snug. Using an INCH-lb. torque wrench and Socket (J-34871), measure rotational torque of pinion gear.
- Torque reading should be 6.1-13 INCH lbs. (.7-1.5 N.m). Back off rack guide set bolt until specified torque is achieved. Ensure rack moves smoothly. Tighten lock nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS TABLE .
