DTC 97 - Accelerometer Circuit Shorted To Ground: Notes

NOTE: For circuit and connector terminal identification, see WIRING DIAGRAM  .

The accelerometer provides additional vehicle speed reference to the EBCM. Voltage signal ranges from 2.4-2.6 volts at zero speed change (constant motion). Accelerometer voltage decreases when vehicle is accelerated and increases during deceleration.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Checks if malfunction is currently present.
  2. Checks for short to ground in accelerometer signal circuit.
  3. Checks for short to ground in accelerometer power circuit.
  4. Ensures DTC was not set due to faulty accelerometer.
  5. Checks for possible intermittent malfunction due to a faulty EBCM.
