Ignition System - TOYO DENSO Electronic: Testing: IGNITOR

  1. On all models, remove ignitor cover and pull out ignitor assembly. With ignition on, check voltage between Blue wire terminal and ground. Also check voltage between Black/Yellow wire terminal and ground. See Fig 1. Battery voltage should be present in both instances.

  2. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between Green and No. 2 Blue wire terminals on pick-up coil. Pick-up coil resistance is 650-850 ohms at 70°F (20°C).
  3. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity in both directions between terminals "C" and "D" on ignitor output. See Fig 2. Continuity should be present in only one direction. Connect ohmmeter positive test probe to terminal "A" and negative probe to ignitor unit ground. Measure resistance of ignitor input. Ignitor input resistance is 50,000 ohms or more at 70°F (20°C).
