Electronic Control Unit (Ecu): Notes

The ECU, is mounted under carpet below passenger side of dash (Civic and Prelude) or under front passenger seat (Accord). The ECU contains memories for basic injector durations at various engine speeds and Manifold Absolute Pressures (MAP). The basic injector duration is read from calibration tables built into ECU internal memory. ECU then modifies basic injector duration based on input signals from various sensors to obtain final injector duration.

The ECU also controls cold start system, electric fuel pump, fuel cut-off system and fail-safe monitoring system. The ECU's fail-safe system monitors input signals, substituting pre-calibrated values in event it detects any abnormalities. This provides safe driving (limp-home mode) even if one or more of sensors are faulty, or ECU malfunctions.
