Advance Diaphragm

  1. Remove distributor cap. Disconnect vacuum hoses from advance unit. Connect vacuum pump to inner diaphragm fitting. Apply at least 20 in. Hg. Stator should move as vacuum is applied, hold steady, and return to original position when vacuum is released.
  2. Repeat procedure with outer diaphragm. If stator does not move, check breaker plate for freedom of movement. If breaker plate moves freely and either diaphragm does not respond properly, replace diaphragm assembly.
