Gearshift Position Signal (Auto. Trans.)

  1. Verify gearshift selector indicator light functions properly. Turn ignition off. Install system checker harness between ECU and ECU connectors. Disconnect "A" connector from harness only, not ECU.
  2. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals A11 (pos.) and B8 (neg.). If battery voltage is not indicated, substitute a known good ECU. If condition is rectified, replace original ECU. If battery voltage is indicated, reconnect "A" connector to main wire harness. Measure voltage between A11 (pos.) and B8 (neg.) with gearshift in Neutral. If voltage is not present, go to step 4).
  3. If voltage is present, repair open in Light Green wire between ECU terminal A11 and combination meter or repair open in Green wire between combination meter and gearshift selector switch.
  4. Measure voltage between ECU terminals A11 (pos.) and B8 (neg.) in all other gearshift positions except Neutral. If battery voltage is present, shift position signal is okay. If battery voltage is not present, repair short in Light Green wire between combination meter and ECU.
