Code 9 - TDC/Crank/CYL Sensor
- Turn ignition off. Remove No. 11 fuse in the under-hood relay box for 10 seconds to reset ECU. Start engine and observe "CHECK ENGINE" light. If light is off, problem is intermittent. Test drive and check again.
- If light is on, turn ignition off. Disconnect 4-wire sensor connector near distributor. Measure resistance between White and Orange wire at sensor harness connector. If reading is not 650-850 ohms, replace sensor or distributor assembly. If reading is within specification, proceed to next step.
- Check continuity between ground and Orange and White terminals individually. If continuity exists, replace distributor assembly or sensor. If no continuity exists, proceed to next step.
- Reconnect sensor connector. Attach ECU test harness to main wire harness side only. Check resistance between connector terminals C1 and C2. Resistance should be 650-850 ohms. If not, repair open in Orange and/or White wires.
- If resistance is within specification, check continuity between terminal C1 and ground. If continuity is not present, repair open in Orange wire and ECU terminal C1 and 4-wire connector.
- If resistance is not within specification, substitute a known good ECU and recheck. If condition is rectified, replace original ECU.
