Engine Controls - Tests W/Codes - 2.6L: Introduction

NOTE: Assembly Line Data Link (ALDL) connector may also be referred to as the Data Link Connector (DLC). The CHECK ENGINE light is now referred to as Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). The MIL is displayed in instrument cluster as CHECK ENGINE.

If no faults were found while performing steps in BASIC TESTING - 2.6L article, proceed with self-diagnostics. If no fault codes or only pass codes are present after entering self-diagnostics, proceed to TESTS W/O CODES - 2.6L article for diagnosis by symptom (i.e., ROUGH IDLE, NO START, etc.).
